Picture of me and Kaylin

What's happened in the last year and a 1/2

WOW. A lot has happened in the last year. I just re-read all of my old posts.

Since May of 2005 (my last posting here is what has happened):

July 30,2005 I became a MRS.! We had a beautiful backyard wedding with about 40 of our friends and family. We soon moved into our cozy (a nice word for way to small) apartment.

August 2005 We took a week honeymoon in Gatlinburg Tennessee at a secluded log cabin.
At the end of the month I worked at the Emergency Operations Center as Hurricane Katrina (a Cat 1) passed near South Florida before it made it's way to New Orleans.

We met our great friends Dan & Rachel through a house church. They are amazing!

In September 2005 I worked at the EOC again for Tropical Storm Rita. I couldn't figure out why I was so tired until September 20th when I found out I was pregnant!

At the end of October 2005 I worked at the EOC for another storm: Hurricane Wilma. I had horrible morning sickness, our apartment was out of electricity for 3 weeks, and it took 90 minutes to commute to work because of all the downed traffic lights.

Somewhere in between there I decided I was interested in sewing and made myself a maternity shirt. I never quite put on the finishing touches, however I do occassionally sleep in it now.

May 21, 2006 Kaylin was born via. C-section. She weighed 7lbs, 8oz and was 19 3/4 inches.

May- August 2006 I struggled through post-partum depression and a colicky baby. When we took K home she cried for 10 hours without ceasing! She would cry between 11pm-6am non-stop. Matt and I wondered what we had gotten ourselves into.

July 2006 we moved in with Matt's parents due to the extremely high cost of living in South Florida.

At the beginning of August I went back to work, which was a really hard adjustment. Fortunately, at 10 weeks Kaylin had just finally started sleeping through the night and the colic stopped suddenly (thank the Lord!)

On August 8, 2006 our dear friend Luke committed suicide. Luke was Matt's best friend, my friend, and a friend of Matt's family. We loved him like a brother. Matt dedicated a site in memory of him: luke.taggedzi.com We are still grieving that he's gone.

December 2006 Matt, Kaylin, and I visited my mom and Bob in NH. I got to see my brother and he met his neice for the first time. He was so sweet with her. I also met Chloe, my Mom's dog, a huge yellow lab, for the first time.

We've also had many hospitalizations between Matt, Me, and friends. We are really freakin' sick of doctors and hospitals, let me tell you. I think this season is one of physical illnesses. I pray for God's healing.

It is now February 21, 2006 and Kaylin just turned 9 months old. She has 2 definite bottom teeth and is working on the top two. She can "walk" around her play yard and eat rice puffs and other foods. She's huge for her age...in the 75%. That's so funny because I'm so small, but it's because her dad is so big.

I will try to keep this blog updated more frequently (at least more frequently than a year and a half!)

Thanks for reading.
